About The Position

PTC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of welded and cold drawn mechanical steel tubing and tubular shapes, plated bar and tubing, and fabricated parts and precision components. The Maintenance Mechanic determines workday operational activities and production, implements proper policies and procedures. They are familiar with production processes and rely on skills, knowledge, and experience to accomplish all assigned tasks. The role involves reviewing all activities to eliminate waste and continuously improve processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Completion of maintenance mechanical course, Associate Degree, or equivalent experience is required.
  • At least 3- 5 years of hands-on commercial or industrial mechanical experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, ERP system, etc.
  • Ability to work shift work, weekends, callouts and overtime.
  • Employee is required to abide by plant safety rules, and PPE requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PLC systems and variable frequency drives (VFD) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust, and maintain all equipment in a steel mill environment.
  • Work with heavy industry equipment and overhead cranes.
  • Read, analyze, interpret, and perform work from schematics, technical specifications, drawings, and sketches.
  • Perform all other duties as directed by supervisor or management representative within safety guidelines.
  • Perform work in accordance with the defined Quality system and share responsibility for Quality.
  • Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.
