About The Position

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Library Science.
• Three years of professional library experience in cataloging.
• One year of supervisory experience.
• Working knowledge of library operations and governing laws and regulations.
• Knowledge of current cataloging resources, standards, and procedures.
• Knowledge of standard material processing techniques and procedures.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with OCLC Connexion, FRBR, RDA, and digital image metadata.
• Public library experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct, review, and approve Technical Services staff cataloging, data entry, and processing functions.
• Evaluate and select electronic resources, including databases, eBooks, streaming media, and online learning materials.
• Maintain electronic acquisition systems, departmental budgets, and on-order records; verify and order new materials.
• Perform original and copy cataloging and maintain bibliographic, authority, and item records in accordance with applicable standards.
• Conduct specialized research, generate departmental and database reports, and perform routine database maintenance.
• Verify invoices, maintain acquisition files, and communicate with vendors, library institutions, and department managers regarding purchases, procedures, and shipments.
• Report operational progress, problems, and needs to library administration and Technical Services staff and recommend procedural changes.
