About The Position

Requirements

• A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school.

Responsibilities

• Loads, moves, and unloads dirt, materials, supplies and equipment, excavates with pick, shovel, and other hand tools; backfills holes and ditches; Spreads materials for road patching and paving; cleans culverts, cuts grass, widens ditches and clears off rubbish; Sprays solutions for killing weeds; may operate small power mower; Sweeps streets; Sets out flags and lanterns to mark off construction areas; Clears storm drains of rubbish and rocks; Burns rubbish at public dump and keeps area orderly; Heats asphalt for road patching; May check trucks and other equipment for oil, gas, and water; May occasionally help tradesmen by performing heavy manual work in lifting and carrying building tools and materials; Carries rocks and materials and mixes cement and mortar for the construction of sidewalks, curbing, stone walls, roadways, storm drains and bridges; and Performs other related duties as required.
