About The Position

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in an electrical training program or equivalent.
• Thorough knowledge of standard electrical equipment and work practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and install applicable electrical equipment and systems, including motors and breakers up to 4160V, protective relays, PLCs, transformers, motor control centers, lights, and panels.
• Ability to troubleshoot PLC/DCS I/O, including 4–20 mA loops and 120V/24V DC I/O.
• Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills, and ability to embrace change.
• Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new programs.
• Ability to read and translate PLC code, schematic wiring, ladder diagrams, and P&IDs.
• Industrial network experience.
• 1–3 years of related work experience.
• Experience with three-phase electrical systems up to 4160V.
• Ability to meet the position’s physical requirements, including occasional lifting up to 60 pounds, climbing stairs and ladders, walking up to two or more miles per day, standing for extended periods, and working at heights, in confined spaces, and across the stated temperature range.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and use hand and power tools.
• Ability to adhere to safety requirements in all work environments; the position requires a pre-employment physical and drug screen and random drug and alcohol testing during employment.

Nice To Haves

• Journeyman or Master License; may be required depending on location.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot equipment to identify root causes, repair or replace parts, and rewire or install instrumentation and electrical equipment, including conduit and wiring.
• Ensure electrical work follows applicable local electrical codes and work with electrical systems and circuits at applicable site voltages.
• Troubleshoot PLC/DCS I/O, including 4–20 mA loops and 120V/24V DC I/O.
• Perform preventative and proactive electrical maintenance and follow compliance procedures.
• Assist with emergency and scheduled shutdowns and perform regular mechanical duties as directed.
• Calibrate, configure, and repair flow, level, pressure, temperature, and pH instruments, including associated valves and actuators.
• Understand and work with instrumentation and electrical equipment associated with plant processing equipment, motor control circuits, and electric motors.
• Inform management of needed parts and help maintain instrumentation, electronic, and electrical parts inventories.
• Maintain inventory records, calibration records, parts orders, and documentation related to outside contractors and other work.
• Work with management and staff to help ensure plant operations and facilities meet standards.
• Maintain a clean and serviceable work area and account for tools and supplies.
• Complete other assigned tasks, work orders, and cleaning duties.
• Assist in developing, training, and reviewing instrumentation and electrical programs and procedures, including Arc Flash Hazards and electrical integrity.
• Maintain required licensing by attending state-required code classes as applicable.
• Respond to after-hours calls, including weekends and holidays, for emergency bioprocessing situations requiring electrical or instrumentation expertise.
• Promote teamwork and POET in the community, foster safe behavior and environmental compliance, and maintain and advance product and process food safety and quality.
