About The Position

Austin Industrial is hiring an Instrumentation Technician to install, test, calibrate, troubleshoot, overhaul, and repair electrical, control, indicating, and measuring instrument devices to ensure specified operating performance. The work uses hand tools, testing and calibration equipment, and precision measuring instruments. The technician must be able to understand manuals, wiring and instrumentation schematics, and testing specifications; troubleshoot electric motors; and install circuit wiring. The position also requires some knowledge of electrical schematics and PLCs. Other duties may be assigned. The role includes building control panels, installing and mounting instruments, installing tubing and impulse lines, terminating junction boxes, and applying basic conduit installation practices. The technician reads and interprets P&IDs, loop diagrams, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams; traces signal paths; and understands control-loop functions. Instrumentation work includes calibrating pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments; maintaining and troubleshooting control valves; and performing instrument loop checks and signal verification. The technician diagnoses instrument and control-system failures, identifies wiring and electrical issues, verifies sensor outputs, determines root causes, and distinguishes electrical, mechanical, and process-related problems. The position uses basic PLC knowledge, process-control loop fundamentals, HMI operation and navigation, AC/DC fundamentals, Ohm’s Law, electrical measurements, multimeters, and knowledge of motor controls such as starters, relays, contactors, and VFDs. Applicants must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; Austin Industrial cannot sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position. Candidates must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check. Work may take place in industrial and construction environments, with exposure to weather, temperature extremes, noise, dust, fumes, moving equipment, vibration, and other site-specific hazards. Employees must wear required PPE and meet applicable customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements. Reasonable accommodation may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
