About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is seeking a dedicated and diverse team of educators to partner with them in moving the district toward its goals. The district represents 35 schools and programs, serving approximately 19,000 students Pre-K–12. The district offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12. The coaching staff consists of certified, dedicated people who enjoy working with student athletes. The modified program (grades 7-8) emphasizes discipline, enjoyment of play, competition, and dedication, preparing students for high school competition. At the high school level, the focus is on the development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.

Requirements

  • New York State Coaching Certification
  • Valid First Aid course
  • Valid Adult CPR certification
  • Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
  • Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
  • Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)
  • Fingerprint Clearance
  • School District Recommendation
  • Pass a fingerprint-based background check

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Concussion Management Certificate
  • Previous Coaching Experience

Responsibilities

  • Coach JV Flag Football for Nottingham High School during the Fall 2026 season.
  • Develop student athletes' skills, academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
  • Prepare the team for high school competition, emphasizing efficient team and individual effort.
  • Foster a positive and disciplined environment that encourages hard work and rewards.
