About The Position

Requirements

• 1–2 years of verifiable over-the-road driving experience or certification from an accredited truck-driving academy.
• Knowledge of applicable DOT and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• Commercial Driver’s License and appropriate endorsements, including HazMat, Tanker, and Doubles/Triples, as required by law.
• Qualify physically and obtain a Medical Examiner’s Certificate under applicable federal regulations.
• At least 21 years of age and meet the qualifications in 49 CFR Section 391.11(b)(1).
• Ability to read and speak English in accordance with 49 CFR Section 391.11(b)(2).
• Ability to drive for up to 11 hours and work a total of 14 hours while transporting hazardous materials and sitting for extended periods.
• Ability to walk, bend, reach, push, stoop, squat, and climb to perform vehicle inspections and job duties.
• Ability to grasp, lift, and handle heavy equipment and climb onto trailers when necessary; hoses may exceed 20 feet in length, measure up to 4 inches in diameter, and weigh up to 75 pounds.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
• Normal range of hearing, vision, and smell.
• Availability to work variable shifts as dictated by business needs.

Responsibilities

• Drive defensively and follow applicable laws and regulations to maintain safe carrier operations.
• Drive company trucks to load and deliver fuel and commodities to Love’s retail locations and third-party customers.
• Follow federal, state, local, and company rules for the safe operation of hazardous-cargo tank motor vehicles.
• Use proper loading and unloading methods for the cargo being transported.
• Maintain contact with logistics as needed and required.
• Complete electronic driver logs and other required documentation.
• Follow company professional-conduct guidelines when interacting with customers, employees, vendors, and the motoring public.
• Perform required vehicle inspections.
• Safely hook up and drop tractor/trailer combinations and handle hoses and other equipment.
