About The Position

Pratt & Whitney (P & W) Military Engines F135 Fleet Operations is seeking a Field Service Engineer to represent the P & W Team at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan. This position operates in a high visibility and team-oriented environment at this F-35B Marine Corps Forward Deployed site. As an FSE, you will provide support for F-35B/F135 operations to include systems, tooling, material, and processes. The FSE will have hands-on interaction with the engine, aircraft, and personnel from the Marine Air Group (MAG) and various squadrons. This position at this US Marine Corps location will work closely with P & W Customer Engineering, MAG-12, Marine Fighter-Attack Squadron (VMFA)-242, Marine Fighter-Attack Squadron (VMFA)-121 and Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS)-12 Departments in troubleshooting and resolution of emerging customer issues and maintain flexibility to resolve constantly changing customer priorities.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred in an engineering or related technical field. Non-technical degrees will be considered if the candidate has all appropriate / related qualifications.
  • A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in engine/aircraft maintenance, logistics, and logistics support is required. This includes supply chain management and Support Equipment management.
  • Must be able to pass a health physical for Shipboard operational support.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued secret security clearance is required.
  • Candidates that have had a clearance that has recently lapsed (not more than 2 years), may apply for consideration.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with US Marine Corps Aviation to include shipboard and remote site operations.
  • Background in ITAR/ITC is desired for this assignment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience on the F135 engine and associated programs to include Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS)/OBPHM.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Ensure comprehensive reporting on support activities including aircraft and engine status, flight reports, operational data, engine configuration status and parts consumption.
  • Use self-initiative and judgment to identify problems, conduct investigations to determine root cause, and coordinate solutions between P&W Engineering, the Joint Strike Fighter Program Office, and Lockheed Martin.
  • Assist in coordinating field issues with the local P&W team, Engineering, and Logistics Program Management.
  • Support combat operations on a ship or on land.
  • Support customer contract requirements, including expected travel and shipboard operations support for at minimum 30% of your time.
  • Rotate first and second shift schedules as required to meet customer support and team objectives.
