About The Position
Patient Care Technicians support high-quality patient care in Union Hospital’s Emergency Department, which provides emergency care to patients of all ages and treats common illnesses and injuries. The department performs immediate treatment and lifesaving procedures in emergency situations and serves as an access point for the hospital’s Certified Primary Stroke Center, Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI, and Verified Level III Trauma Center. The role involves collaborating with registered nurses, helping develop and modify care plans, carrying out medical tasks, educating and advocating for patients, and responding to emergencies while respecting patient rights and confidentiality.
Requirements
- Basic medical knowledge and knowledge of patient care procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
- Must have a valid Indiana CNA license or agree to complete the Union Health PCT Training program upon hire.
- Must be certified in healthcare provider BLS upon hire.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with RN staff to assess patients’ needs and report concerns.
- Assist in developing and modifying care plans, prioritizing patient problems, and performing medical tasks.
- Provide patient education and follow policies.
- Respond to emergencies and act as a patient advocate while respecting patient rights and confidentiality.
- Evaluate interventions, maintain professionalism, and seek assistance when needed.
