About The Position

SAIC is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join its team in Arlington, Virginia. The role is primarily onsite at a customer location, with a minimum onsite requirement of three days per week; onsite requirements may change based on program needs. The engineer will build internal DevOps tools, CLI utilities, and automation scripts, and will build and operate an internal developer platform for connected and air-gapped environments. The platform includes Azure, CI/CD, Kubernetes, pipelines, and automation. Technologies and practices include GitLab for source control and pipelines; Terraform and Ansible for automation; Python for helpers and tests; Helm for Kubernetes deployments; and Microsoft Azure Stack Hub with a Hyper-V sidecar. The work emphasizes trunk-based GitLab workflows, deterministic pipelines with testing and security scans, evidence attached to every change, and avoiding manual click-ops. For high-side environments, artifacts are moved using checksums, signatures, and SBOMs, with mirroring through reposync and Pulp, plus offline scanning and promotion. The role also emphasizes secret hygiene, secrets-management familiarity, and vulnerability and misconfiguration scanning in CI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience; additional work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with eligible SCI; SCI access must have been debriefed within the last two years.
  • Experience with Go-based CLI tools and API integrations for automating cloud infrastructure provisioning.
  • Strong background deploying and managing cloud resources such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Infrastructure as Code experience with tools such as Terraform.
  • Scripting experience with PowerShell or Python for pipeline and operating-system task automation.
  • Proficiency with the Linux command line and Bash shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft enterprise environments, including Active Directory, Entra ID, and DNS.
  • Configuration-management experience with tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience using Docker containers.

Nice To Haves

  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) experience.
  • Familiarity with RHEL and Windows patching.
  • Strong documentation habits for handoffs and audits.
  • Experience using Helm to manage Kubernetes deployments.

  • Apply secret-hygiene practices and support vulnerability and misconfiguration scanning in CI.
