About The Position

Altamira Technologies is seeking a Senior AWS DevSecOps Engineer to lead the design, build, and automation of hybrid cloud infrastructure. The role focuses primarily on developing secure, scalable, and highly available platforms on AWS and other cloud platforms using cloud-native technologies. The engineer will apply Infrastructure as Code, container orchestration with Amazon EKS, and CI/CD pipelines to provide development and data science teams with a robust, self-service platform. The position is at the customer site in downtown Tampa, Florida. VMware experience in a hybrid environment is a plus. The engineer will design, build, and maintain AWS environments and services; automate cloud provisioning and management; integrate security practices and compliance controls into platforms and pipelines; and guide development teams in effective use of the platform. The role also involves evaluating cloud-native technologies, applying foundational development practices, and supporting connectivity across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. A TS/SCI security clearance and required DoD 8140 certifications must be held and maintained.

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain required DoD 8140 certifications.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, with hands-on experience in Terraform or other IaC languages, including advanced use such as targeted applies and imports.
  • Deep experience designing and managing Amazon EKS clusters.
  • Strong command of AWS IAM roles, policies, and security best practices.
  • Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking, Linux/Unix administration, and security principles.
  • Proficiency with Git and modern GitOps workflows.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Deep understanding of advanced networking concepts, DNS, and gateways in hybrid or multi-cloud environments.
  • Understanding of common authentication mechanisms, including OIDC, OAuth2, LDAP, and SAML.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience, approximately 8 or more years in cloud/software engineering.
  • TS/SCI security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with VMware vSphere in a hybrid cloud context.
  • Experience with configuration management (the posting’s final requirement is truncated after “Experience with configuration man”).

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, resilient, and secure cloud environments, primarily within AWS.
  • Implement and manage AWS networking, compute, storage, database, and Kubernetes services, including VPC, Transit Gateway, EKS, EC2, Lambda, S3, EBS, and RDS.
  • Architect and operate containerized workloads on Amazon EKS, including cluster management, scaling, and security.
  • Automate cloud resource provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform.
  • Develop, manage, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for rapid and reliable software delivery.
  • Manage AWS IAM roles, policies, and permissions according to the principle of least privilege.
  • Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline operations and reduce manual processes, with a focus on APIs.
  • Integrate security best practices into platforms and pipelines, and implement security controls, encryption, and access management to meet standards such as DISA STIGs.
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement monitoring solutions.
  • Provide cloud subject-matter expertise and guidance to development teams to help them optimize their use of the platform.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate cloud-native technologies and recommend solutions that improve efficiency and capability.
  • Promote foundational best practices, including Git workflows and use of AI tools to accelerate development and problem-solving.
  • Support connectivity and integration across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, including advanced networking, DNS, and gateway configuration.
