About The Position

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in a computer, strategic-planning, and/or institutional-research support role in higher education.
• Demonstrated technical expertise working with a large database, including Ellucian Banner ERP, and building documentation.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Highly proficient in statistical analysis software such as R.
• Data visualization experience required.
• Proficient in command-line programming and SQL.
• Strong ability to clean, merge, maintain, and analyze large data sets.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and work with teams.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of ethics in data collection and analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparing statistical reports and explaining data methods and analyses to audiences with varying levels of expertise.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in educational research, data science, business analytics, social/behavioral sciences, or a related field.
• PowerBI certification.
• Previous experience working with CRM data.
• Familiarity with survey tools such as Qualtrics.
• PowerBI data-visualization experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead data-extraction projects associated with requests to the Office of Institutional Planning and Effectiveness and write technical requirements as needed.
• Interact with requestors to clarify or gather requirements.
• Extract, combine, and manipulate data from Ellucian Banner ERP, Blackboard, CRM, and external data sources to support decision-making, research, compliance, assessment, accreditation, and institutional improvement.
• Write automation scripts to make regular data-mining and analysis work replicable, using AI responsibly as needed.
• Review and quality-check work performed by other analysts in the Office of Institutional Planning and Effectiveness.
• Learn new analytical tools or updated features, especially R, PowerBI, and GitHub, and support adoption of these innovations in the office.
• Manage aspects of survey administration, including data collection, analysis, report writing, and presentations.
• Create, edit, and maintain internal and external reports using R, Excel, or other analytical tools.
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative research and prepare technical reports and other publications for the university and accrediting bodies.
• Perform statistical analysis and explain statistical outputs to faculty and administrators for programmatic and business decisions.
• Generate charts, tables, and other visualizations.
• Provide templates for, and collaborate on, effective, valid, and reliable performance-indicator dashboards and report cards for university initiatives.
• Translate and disseminate data in user-friendly formats, including web visualizations, documents, reports, electronic media, and in-person presentations.
• Provide feedback on best practices in data-driven institutional planning and develop systems to improve data collection, database content, and the efficiency of analysis and reporting.
• Make cases for software updates or changes as needed.
• Perform other assigned duties, such as serving on committees or acting as an institutional contact.
• Maintain data security and accuracy in reporting.
