About The Position

Requirements

• Maintain valid Ohio teaching licensure in Career Technical Workforce Development: Culinary Arts & Food Service Management, or have qualifications that indicate a path to one of the listed licenses through the Ohio School for the Deaf’s Grow Your Own program.
• Possess or obtain ServSafe Manager certification.
• Meet at least the Intermediate level on the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) at hire and demonstrate the Advanced level within one year of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Licensure as an Intervention Specialist K-12 (Hearing Impaired).
• Workforce, culinary, and hospitality experience.
• Experience serving as a classroom teacher or intervention specialist.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Career and Technical Education licensure and applicable industry and curriculum requirements.
• Plan, deliver, and evaluate instruction using approved curriculum and industry- and state-approved assessments.
• Teach classroom and hands-on culinary content, including culinary techniques, food preparation, baking, nutrition, food safety and sanitation, kitchen operations, and food service management.
• Maintain a safe and organized commercial kitchen environment and supervise students during food preparation and service.
• Manage kitchen equipment and inventory, order supplies, and develop recipes and menus.
• Assess student performance and maintain accurate student records.
• Incorporate industry standards and workplace expectations into daily instruction and support students’ employability and professional skills.
• Coordinate work-based learning opportunities and prepare students for industry-recognized certifications.
• Collaborate with school staff, families, community members, and industry partners to support students’ technical and academic development.
• May serve as an IEP teacher of record and provide CTE pathway support to students in K-12 and 4Plus.
