The Transportation Manager is responsible for the overall performance of routes and Delivery Truck Drivers as it pertains to customer experience and meeting company performance standards. Expected competencies for the Transportation Manager include dependability, being action-oriented (proactive), able to effectively communicate with others, able to develop the skills of the Team Leaders and Delivery Truck Drivers, is customer-focused, and strives to increase technical skills and knowledge. This role involves assisting with driver performance reviews, identifying inefficiencies, providing mentorship and training on deliveries and customer service, and collaborating with the General Manager, Sales Department, and other departments to manage supply chain logistics, including routing and truck utilization strategies. The manager will also handle internal challenges and elevated external client complaints, working proactively to reduce them, and ensure accurate and timely distribution of dispatch routing information. Additional duties include investigating customer complaints, ensuring order accuracy and proper loading onto delivery trucks, and ensuring compliance with DOT rules and regulations for hours of service, pre-post trip inspections, maintenance, and delivery times. The manager is also responsible for assuring delivery appointments are made in a timely manner to meet customer requirements.
