The Tampa Individual Life and Health Team is a practice within Milliman, Inc., one of the largest actuarial consulting firms in the world. This team was established in 1998 and specializes in supplemental life and health products. They expanded their reach with the addition of several senior actuaries focused on these supplemental health and life product lines. In 2013, compliance consulting expertise was added to their operations. Their dedicated team specializes in corporate licensing and regulatory compliance, including Uniform Certificate of Authority Application (UCAA) filings, and has become a driving element of the growing comprehensive services offered to clients. Their broad range of services include product development support, pricing, experience analysis, product re-rating, valuation, and appointed actuary work, as well as state filings, regulatory support, objection response, corporate licensing and annuity work. Team members work on a range of client projects of various sizes, and they employ a highly integrated project structure that encourages interaction across all members of the team from analysts to consultants to the Principals serving as the client leads. While most of the team’s time is spent working on projects developed within their local office, team members also have the chance to participate with certain assignments that are completed in partnership with other Milliman offices, and work with employees from other Milliman life and health practices. They believe that the compliance and actuarial skillsets have important applications across both their traditional work and their work in new and developing markets, and are committed to developing a pipeline of new talent and future leaders of the firm through support and interaction with senior colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 0-2 Years of Experience
  • Experience with MS Office (Word and Excel especially) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality work
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks, prioritizing and meeting deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Complete state filing certifications and letters
  • Analyze insurance laws and regulations to provide guidance to clients
  • Draft insurance contracts
  • Draft insurance form revisions as needed to comply with state laws
  • Recommend objection responses for consultant’s review
  • Lead and/or participate in research projects specific to client’s need
  • Assemble and submit insurance product filings to state insurance departments
  • Monitor correspondence from states regarding filings and distribute as appropriate
  • Maintain filing status records
  • Prepare and send approved filings to clients
