About The Position

Join our veterinary team as a full-time Veterinary Assistant or Credentialed Veterinary Technician and make a real difference in animal care every day. You'll work alongside our experienced DVMs to provide exceptional patient care while helping our hospital run smoothly and efficiently. Must be able to work every other weekend.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 1+ years of experience completing the details listed above
  • Strong feline handling skills with the ability to safely restrain patients of all temperaments for examinations and procedures
  • Knowledge of diagnostic imaging positioning and laboratory diagnostics
  • Proficiency with venipuncture including IV catheter placement and blood draws
  • Experience with anesthesia monitoring, dental cleanings, and radiography
  • Experienced with medication administration (PO, SQ, IM, and IV) and vaccine administration
  • Knowledge of prescription medications to effectively instruct clients with home care instructions
  • Excellent attention to detail in monitoring patients and maintaining medical records
  • Effective communication skills with team members and clients

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with anesthesia monitoring and assisting in surgical procedures preferred
  • LVT, CVT, or RVT certification (or equivalent) preferred but not required
  • Associate degree in veterinary technology or continuing education in veterinary science a plus

Responsibilities

  • Conducts physical exams, administers treatments, and performs diagnostic procedures, including collecting samples and running in-house lab tests.
  • Assists veterinarians with surgeries, monitors anesthesia, and ensures proper patient recovery under supervision.
  • Triages patients by gathering medical histories and assessing immediate needs.
  • Handles and restrains felines safely, focusing on minimizing stress and maintaining the well-being of both patients and staff.
  • Effectively updates clients on patient status and explains treatment plans under veterinarian direction.
  • Collaborates with the hospital team and fosters a positive, team-oriented environment.
  • Accurately fills prescriptions, administers medications, and documents all treatments, including controlled drug logs, to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Maintains precise and up-to-date patient records, including treatment notes and shift handoff updates.
  • Assists in training new employees, floats between departments, and contributes to a cohesive work environment.
  • Participates in staff meetings, reviews, and on-call schedules to ensure the smooth operation of the hospital.
