About The Position

The Industrial Cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the office and plant environments. This role requires keen attention to detail, the ability to work safely around equipment, and knowledge of industrial cleaning techniques and chemicals. The Industrial Cleaner plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

Requirements

  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Familiarity with industrial cleaning equipment and products
  • Safely handle and apply industrial cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety protocols
  • Understand and follow Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Experienced with forklift operation
  • Comfortable working at heights
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather environments
  • Physical requirements include the use of strength such as pushing, lifting, and or moving objects during the work, as well as standing, climbing, kneeling, and bending

Nice To Haves

  • Experience cleaning within manufacturing environments (shopfloor and office)
  • Knowledge of safe chemical and solvent handling practices
  • Experience operating a forklift or willing to learn

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness of shop floor, wash bay, yard, and industrial work areas through routine and deep-cleaning activities
  • Perform outdoor yard cleanup which includes forklift operation as required
  • Assist with snow removal and salting of entryways and walkways
  • Wash and clean trucks, forklifts, cranes, and industrial machinery
  • Operate and maintain industrial cleaning equipment, including floor scrubbers, sweeping machines, and vacuum systems
  • Use industrial vacuums and floor scrubbing equipment to remove dirt, scraps, coolant, oil, and heavy debris
  • Wash walls, ceilings, bay doors, storage areas, windows, and other industrial surfaces (including work at heights)
  • Clean spills such as oil, grease, coolant, and chemical residues using safe procedures
  • Collect garbage, scrap materials, and recycling from the yard, shop floor, and designated holding areas
  • Sort and dispose of waste into appropriate bins and compactors
  • Operate cardboard compactor and ensure recycling is processed throughout the day
  • Support shutdown and deep-cleaning operations during maintenance and construction periods
  • Emptying trash cans and other waste containers from lunchrooms, offices, etc.
  • Sweep, mop, scrub and wax office hallways, floors and stairs
  • Mop, clean and sanitize washrooms, lunchroom, and the kitchenettes, including high touch-points in the facility such as doorknobs, light switches, etc.
  • Distribute paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in washrooms
  • Maintain an inventory of sanitary and custodial supplies
