About The Position

This is a full-time position in Sterile Processing Services at Atrium Health Mercy. The Certified Instrument Technician II is responsible for adhering to safety standards, identifying and performing manual and/or mechanical cleaning of general instrumentation according to manufacturer instructions, preparing and using supplies for the assembly process, identifying and inspecting general instruments for cleanliness and functionality, packaging and labeling instrumentation, safely operating sterilization equipment, and performing verification and documentation of the sterilization process. The role involves performing high temperature (steam) and low temperature (gas plasma) sterilization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to safety standards.
  • Identifies manual and/or mechanical cleaning according to the manufacturer's IFU for all general instrumentation.
  • Determines, prepares, and uses supplies required in the assembly process.
  • Identifies, inspects, assembles general instruments, checking for cleanliness & functionality utilizing count sheets.
  • Packages and labels instrumentation.
  • Safely operates sterilization equipment and perform verification and documentation of sterilization process.
  • Performs high temperature (steam) and low temperature (gas plasma) sterilization.
