About The Position
The Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee invites applications for a full-time Spanish Language Instructor. The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching all levels of Spanish language courses in the first- and second-year sequence and teaching upper-division courses in Spanish as needed by the program. The instructor may also participate in organizing and promoting program events. The Spanish Program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee invites applications for two full-time Spanish Language Instructors. The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching beginning and intermediate Spanish language courses. This will include teaching one or more evening courses per semester. If there is a departmental need, they could also be responsible for teaching upper-division elective courses in Spanish. One of the two positions will also include the opportunity to teach Portuguese language and culture.
Requirements
- MA in Spanish, Spanish Linguistics, or a related field.
- 1 or more years of teaching Spanish and/or Portuguese at the post-secondary level, or at least 4 years teaching Spanish and/or Portuguese at the secondary level.
- Advanced or near-native proficiency in Spanish.
Nice To Haves
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and student engagement.
- Experience teaching online language or culture courses.
- Experience creating pedagogical content for classroom and/or community use.
- Ability to teach, or experience teaching, Portuguese language and culture.
- 3 or more years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level, including as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to assessment creation in the Spanish language program.
- Contribute to student-centered program events.
- Teach beginning and intermediate levels of Spanish language courses during the daytime and evenings.
- Teach one or more evening courses per semester.
- Teach upper-division elective courses in Spanish if there is a departmental need.
- Teach Portuguese language and culture (for one of the two positions).
