About The Position

The City of Pueblo is seeking a motivated and skilled professional to join their team as the Assistant Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Superintendent. This role is crucial for keeping the community running strong. The Assistant WWTP Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the facility to meet all regulatory requirements, managing the inventory and maintenance of operating stocks of process chemicals and operating supplies, developing and maintaining information for reports and records, and ensuring all safety training and programs are implemented. Additionally, this role involves maintaining effective communication among staff, evaluating the work of assigned personnel, and providing staff training in areas of treatment operations, equipment maintenance, and proper operation of plant equipment. Requirements

  • An Associate degree or higher education in a related field
  • Colorado Class A Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator’s Certificate, or possess an equivalent certification from another state with the ability to obtain a Colorado operator’s certificate through reciprocity within twelve (12) months of appointment
  • Six (6) years of successful and progressively responsible experience in a large (greater than 4 MGD) wastewater treatment plant or advanced treatment facility
  • A valid driver’s license at the time of application, and a valid Colorado driver’s license within 30 days of employment
  • During the course of employment, a valid license must be maintained, and the employee must notify the City immediately upon changes to the status of their license

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of two years in a supervisory capacity is preferred
