About The Position

Requirements

• Earned master’s degree in Spanish from an institutionally accredited academic institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education; or an earned master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline. Coursework must be in Spanish or a closely related discipline aligned to course competencies; education courses related to teaching Spanish do not count as discipline-specific coursework.
• Alternatively, applicants who do not meet the standard academic qualification may be considered with an earned master’s degree in a related field from an appropriately accredited institution and demonstrated competence in the teaching discipline documented through the CGTC Faculty Qualification Equivalency Form.
• Upload a current resume, completed CGTC application, and all required postsecondary transcripts showing earned credit and conferred degrees. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for the employment packet; diploma copies are not accepted in lieu of transcripts.
• Applicants using the alternative qualification must also submit the CGTC Faculty Qualification Equivalency Form and supporting documentation demonstrating qualifications specific to the teaching discipline.
• Maintain qualifications required by the TCSG Policy Manual and applicable accreditation standards.
• Follow TCSG and institutional policies and procedures; Dual Enrollment instructors must follow rules and regulations of the on-site location.
• Ability to teach all phases of the curriculum and use appropriate teaching techniques, testing and grading procedures, and oral and written communication skills.
• Position requires travel within the college’s service area and additional travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide associate-level Spanish instruction and teach all phases of the curriculum.
• Prepare syllabi and lesson plans and develop program goals and objectives.
• Use appropriate teaching, testing, and grading procedures; maintain grade books and other required records.
• Follow the approved course syllabus and maintain program requirements.
• Complete required professional development training.
• Meet with students and college personnel to discuss instructional programs and related issues.
• Evaluate student progress toward goals and objectives.
• Complete reports, records, and invoices in a timely manner and maintain an accurate inventory of assigned property.
• May serve as a lead instructor and mentor adjunct faculty teaching in the discipline.
• Maintain employment qualifications under TCSG policy and accreditation standards, and follow applicable institutional and TCSG policies and procedures.
• Travel within the college’s service area and as otherwise needed.
