About The Position

Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) delivers comprehensive care to women throughout their lifespan. This includes preventative care, diagnosis and treatment of reproductive and gynecological issues, and management of conditions related to pregnancy and menopause. They also focus on health promotion, disease prevention, and patient education.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing with a specialization in Women's Health from an Accredited University/College.
  • Prior experience in a clinical setting, particularly in women's health or OB/GYN, is often required.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and performing minor medical procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for interacting with patients and collaborating with other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • WHNPs focus on the unique health needs of women, often serving as primary care providers for women of all ages.
  • WHNPs provide a range of services including assessments, diagnostic tests, diagnoses, and treatment.
  • Assessing, diagnosing, and treating various women's health conditions, potentially including minor medical procedures like IUD placements.
  • Conducting well-woman exams, breast cancer screenings, Pap tests, and providing contraceptive care.
  • Providing counseling on health maintenance, disease prevention, and sexual health.
  • Reproductive health: Includes contraception, fertility, and pregnancy care.
  • Gynecological health: Encompasses conditions like menstruation, menopause, and related issues.
  • Managing menstruation issues, fertility concerns, and providing care related to menopause
  • Offering prenatal, postnatal, and postpartum care, including education on nutrition and lifestyle during pregnancy
  • Preventative care: Focuses on screenings, counseling, and health promotion for women.
  • Research: Some programs delve into basic research, molecular studies, and clinical trials in women's health.
  • Other duties as assigned.
