About The Position

Requirements

• One to two years of experience performing arboriculture care and maintenance duties.
• Valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of arboriculture principles, procedures, and methods.
• Knowledge of materials and equipment used in arboriculture operations.
• Knowledge of safety principles and procedures applicable to arboriculture operations.
• Skill in using appropriate tools and equipment in accordance with safety principles.
• Skill in applying arboriculture principles and techniques.
• Effective verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform essential job functions without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of others.
• Ability to determine the procedures or equipment needed to accomplish tasks.
• Ability to work effectively in precarious positions at considerable heights above ground.
• Ability to meet the physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities required to perform the job, including heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly.

Nice To Haves

• Three to five years of experience performing arboriculture care and maintenance duties.
• ISA Certified Arborist certification or EHAP Certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain trees by inspecting quality, defects, and hazards; locating planting sites; and identifying needs for felling, pruning, bracing, chemical application, and tree removal.
• Clean up job sites after tree trimming, including raking and sweeping.
• Plant and maintain new trees and other plants.
• Cut grass, trim shrubs, plant flowers, and perform other grounds maintenance.
• Spray, paint, and disinfect plant material and trees to address insects, pests, and diseases.
• Maintain and operate equipment and tools, and perform proper maintenance, servicing, and minor repairs.
• Operate vehicles and equipment, including pickup trucks, aerial boom trucks, tractors, tree spades, augers, stump grinders, brush chippers, chainsaws, pruners, and sprayers.
• Read forms, instructions, labels, and other information related to tree evaluation, job sheets, equipment operation, and product application.
• Load, unload, and maneuver materials and equipment, including brush, limbs, chemicals, mulch, wire, and rope.
• Attend conferences, workshops, seminars, and other professional development training.
• Maintain records and logs of work activities and DOT inspections.
• Serve as an emergency on-call responder.
• Use proper safety procedures and equipment to protect pedestrians, traffic, and workers.
• May oversee temporary or contract workers as needed.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
