Trimmer Trainee | Columbus, Ohio
About The Position
The Trimmer Trainee works as a member of a tree crew and progressively learns tree-care skills while performing pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients. The role includes learning to climb trees and to identify trees and follow industry pruning guidelines; prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout tree canopies; install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems; and assist with hazardous tree removal. The trainee properly maintains, prepares, and operates tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts. The work is outdoors and based on site in Columbus, Ohio, with travel expectations of up to 25%.
Requirements
- Love of the outdoors.
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire.
Nice To Haves
- Background in forestry, horticulture, landscaping, or working at heights.
- Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.
