About The Position

The Experienced Tree Climber trims and removes trees and unwanted, diseased, or dying limbs to support tree health and the safety of surrounding areas. The role performs tree pruning and removal services as an active crew member, working with ground crew and a crew leader. The position involves climbing with DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS systems and using tree-care equipment. The work is performed outdoors and onsite in Columbus, Ohio, with travel expectations of up to 25%.

Requirements

Love of the outdoors.
Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire.

Nice To Haves

Background in forestry, horticulture, landscaping, or working at heights.
Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
Work as an active crew member alongside supporting ground crew and the crew leader.
Safely and skillfully perform tree pruning and removal services for clients.
Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout tree canopies.
Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
Remove hazardous trees.
Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
