About The Position

The Trimmer Trainee/Grounds Person works as part of a tree crew and progressively learns to perform tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients. The role includes learning to climb trees, identify trees and follow industry pruning guidelines, prune and thin tree canopies, remove deadwood and hazardous trees, and install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems. The position is based on site in Warminster, Pennsylvania, with an additional location in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and travel expectations of up to 25%.

Requirements

Love of the outdoors.
Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire.

Nice To Haves

Background in forestry, horticulture, landscaping, or working at heights.
Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

Work as a member of a tree crew while progressively learning new skills.
Learn and perform tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully.
Learn tree identification and industry pruning guidelines.
Prune and thin trees and remove deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
Assist in removing hazardous trees.
Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
