About The Position

The Trimmer Trainee works as a member of a tree crew and learns to perform tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully. The role involves learning tree identification and industry pruning guidelines, pruning and thinning trees, removing deadwood, assisting with hazardous tree removal, and learning to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems. The trainee also learns to climb trees and properly maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment used in tree care. The position is onsite in Portland, Oregon, with travel expectations of up to 25%. Compensation is $22.00–$26.00 DOE.

Requirements

Love of the outdoors.
Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire.

Nice To Haves

Background in forestry, horticulture, landscaping, or working at heights.
Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities
