About The Position

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of microbiology and laboratory science
• Working knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of record keeping
• Skilled in recording and reporting test results
• Demonstrated ability to operate standard laboratory equipment
• Demonstrated skill and proficiency in the use of computers and related hardware, applications, and software to include the Internet and Microsoft Office or similar office productivity software, and automated databases
• Ability to interact effectively with co-workers, supervisors, patients, vendors and other agencies
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• Ability to accurately assess situations
• Ability to work independently and prioritize assignments
• Ability to follow established laboratory procedures and manage/meet all deadlines

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in a Corrections or Law enforcement environment

Responsibilities

• Performs various lab tests, such as blood counts, sodium and potassium analysis, serum chemistries, urinalysis, and a number of other procedures.
• Performs control-value testing on equipment.
• Updates charts and records.
• Schedules appointments.
• Maintains documentation in appropriate logs and files.
• Provides orientation to medical staff and inmates.
• Maintains adequate and appropriate lab supplies.
