Vehicle Service Technician

About The Position

We are looking to hire a vehicle service technician to perform regular state inspection and emissions on vehicles. This role involves performing regular maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, and filter replacements to prevent problems before they occur, ensuring vehicles are in good working order and reducing the likelihood of breakdowns or major repairs. The technician will use specialized tools and equipment to diagnose and repair problems, keep detailed records of all repairs and maintenance services, and perform safety inspections and emissions tests. Work will be performed as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards. Additional duties include replacing air filters, cabin air filters, and wiper blades, inspecting and replacing fluid levels, checking tire pressure, communicating with the parts department, reporting machinery defects, and maintaining a clean shop area.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean MVR
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background test
  • Knowledge of automotive servicing or repair highly desired
  • Candidate should have their state and emissions license.
  • Neat, clean, and professional appearance
  • Able to drive both automatic and standard-transmission vehicles
  • Safety and customer service oriented
  • Positive, friendly attitude, along with a customer service mentality
  • Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • One year of relevant experience preferred
  • Enjoy working in a fast paced environment
  • Unrestricted driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
  • Basic Computer skills
  • Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, and filter replacements.
  • Use specialized tools and equipment, such as scanners, multimeters, and hydraulic lifts, to diagnose problems and make repairs.
  • Keep detailed records of all repairs and maintenance services performed on vehicles.
  • Document all work performed on the repair order.
  • Perform safety inspection and emissions.
  • Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Replace air filters, cabin air filters, and wiper blades, additional services as outlined by management.
  • Inspect vehicle fluid levels, replace, or replenish as necessary.
  • Check tire pressure and add air if needed.
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Keep shop area neat and clean.
