About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Must receive and maintain certification in Department of Community Health Group Home Skill Training.
• Ability to understand written instructions.
• Ability to accurately and effectively communicate both in writing and verbally.
• Ability to read and follow medication charts.
• Must be physically able to do lifting and transferring of physically impaired consumers according to approved agency policies/procedures.
• Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license.
• Access to reliable transportation for job-related use.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the personal care and treatment of individuals with intellectual disabilities in a residential setting.
• Implement skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs.
• Train and assist residents in daily living skills (personal care, communication, household cleaning, meal preparation, laundry).
• Implement Behavior Treatment Plans, which may include therapeutic physical and verbal intervention.
• Maintain required documentation.
• Assist residents in participation in community activities.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Perform lifting and transferring of physically impaired consumers.
