About The Position

Requirements

• Associate degree or Technical Diploma from an accredited Surgical Technology program required; Associate degree preferred.
• No experience required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required within 30 days of hire.
• Gastro Enterology Certification required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical field using aseptic technique throughout procedures.
• Select, organize, and manage surgical instruments, equipment, sutures, and supplies.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team to promote efficient patient care.
• Perform and document accurate surgical counts before, during, and after procedures.
• Inspect, prepare, and troubleshoot surgical instruments and equipment prior to use.
• Demonstrate knowledge of sterilization, disinfection, medication handling, and safe sharps disposal.
• Assist with room setup, turnover, equipment cleaning, and preparation for subsequent cases.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and other team members to ensure quality patient care.
• Participate in staff education, orientation, performance improvement initiatives, and departmental meetings.
• Maintain competency across multiple surgical specialties while supporting patient safety, AORN standards, and National Patient Safety Goals.
• Complete all required education and safety training and uphold Baptist Health's mission, values, and commitment to exceptional patient care.
