About The Position
The Certified Surgical Technologist/OR Scrub Technician provides proper and efficient care of patients in the operating room under the direct supervision of the circulating nurse. The role requires knowledge of sterile technique, basic anatomy, operative procedures, and the instruments and equipment used in the operating rooms. The schedule is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 0630–1900. Backup call is required during the week for the overnight dedicated call team. The position is part of Vanderbilt Health’s Operating Room organization. It offers the opportunity to contribute to patient care within an academic health system. A taxable $20,000 sign-on bonus is paid over two years of employment, subject to eligibility terms. A taxable relocation bonus of up to $10,000 may be available within 45 days of hire, based on relocation mileage, for eligible candidates relocating from more than 100 miles away. Current Vanderbilt Medical Center staff and former staff who worked there within the past year are ineligible for these bonuses.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program.
- Relevant work experience is listed; experience level is stated as less than one year.
- Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or Tech in Surgery (TS-C) certification from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
- Knowledge of sterile technique, basic anatomy, operative procedures, and operating-room instruments and equipment.
Nice To Haves
- Two or more years of Certified Surgical Technologist experience.
- Orthopedic and general surgery experience.
Responsibilities
- Set up the sterile field.

- Follow practices and policies that ensure patient safety and comply with infection-control standards.
- Provide proper and efficient patient care in the operating room under the direct supervision of the circulating nurse.
