About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in education, a specific subject area, or a related field.
• Prior classroom teaching experience.
• Knowledge of effective instructional practices, curriculum development, classroom management, and conflict resolution strategies.
• Ability to create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation, curiosity, and academic growth.
• Experience with or familiarity with interdisciplinary curriculum, project-based learning, and anti-bias education.
• Understanding of the cognitive, social, and emotional development of children and adolescents.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace and learning management systems, including Canvas.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and adapt to changing classroom needs.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive school community grounded in cultural competence, social justice, and respect for diverse perspectives and voices.
• Team-oriented approach, sound professional judgment, and ability to build positive relationships with students across a diverse community.
• Strong affinity for Westtown School’s mission and an educational philosophy aligned with Quaker values.

Responsibilities

• Support learning across the Lower, Middle, and Upper School divisions.
• Maintain continuity of instruction during substitute assignments.
• Foster positive, engaging, and supportive classroom environments.
