About The Position
Prepare and maintain the life-preserving articles and equipment necessary to support patient and employee safety and patient care. Follow the direction and guidance of the Central Supply Supervisor. The position is based at SLH - CPH Main, 50 Leroy Street, Potsdam, NY 13676, and is scheduled Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., every other weekend, with on-call coverage Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The position is 37.5 hours per week.
Requirements
- Certification by the Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) upon hire, or obtain certification within two years of hire.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Basic understanding of various departmental functions.
- Conscientious regard for technical and minute procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of medical terminology and the nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department.
Responsibilities
- Operate steam and ETO gas sterilizers.
- Maintain extra supplies.
- Update file cards and maintain daily records.
- Participate in continuing education programs at the hospital and in outside seminars and workshops.
