About The Position

The Surgical Services department is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech (SPT) experienced in all areas of sterile processing at OSU, a busy Level One trauma facility. The role requires at least three years of experience in a facility similar to OSU. The schedule is 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Friday through Sunday, with occasional scheduled holidays. The employee may be required to float to other locations.

Candidates must hold either a CBSPD or CRCST certification (through HSPA, formerly IAHCSMM). Eligibility restrictions apply to Aya candidates: former permanent staff and return travelers are not eligible for return anywhere in the OSU system, and travelers who reach the one-year maximum contract limit are not eligible for extensions or future assignments.

Parking permits are available at additional cost. Options include a WMC Agency Permit with 24/7 access to the Wexner Medical Center Garage; a WB Permit with weekend/holiday access to the 9th Avenue East and West Garages, 24/7 access to West Campus surface lots, and shuttle service to the medical center; and a CXS Permit with weekend/holiday access to the 9th Avenue East and West Garages and 24/7 access to Buckeye and West Campus surface lots. Parking costs and options may change per CampusParc policies.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in a facility similar to OSU.
• Experience in all areas of the sterile processing department, including decontamination, instrument assembly, sterilization, HLD and scope processing, sterile storage, OR liaison work, and CensiTrac tracking.
• CBSPD or CRCST certification (through HSPA, formerly IAHCSMM).

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate items, including drills, Da Vinci equipment, and scopes.
• Assemble instruments across all service lines, including trauma instruments, loaners, and peel packaging.
• Perform sterilization processes using Sterrad and steam.
• Perform high-level disinfection (HLD) and scope processing.
• Manage sterile storage.
• Serve as an OR liaison.
• Use the CensiTrac tracking system.
