About The Position

The Sterile Processing Tech works across all areas of the department at a very busy Level One trauma facility. The role requires experience in decontamination, instrument assembly, sterilization, high-level disinfection, scope processing, sterile storage, and OR liaison work. Candidates should have experience working in a facility similar to OSU and must have Medivator experience. Travelers are asked to rate their Medivator experience on a scale of 1–4 and include the rating with their submission.

The schedule is 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Candidates must hold either a CBSPD certification or CRCST certification through HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM).

Eligibility restrictions: Previous permanent staff and return travelers are not eligible for assignments anywhere in the OSU system. Travelers who reach the one-year maximum contract limit are not eligible for extensions or future assignments. Parking permits have different access and payment arrangements: WMC is available monthly, while WB and CXS require annual upfront payment. Prorated refunds may be available for unused future months on annual permits; current and prior months are not refundable. Cancel by 6:30 p.m. on the last business day of the month to avoid the next charge. Refund checks may take 3–5 weeks.

Requirements

• Medivator experience is required; candidates must rate their experience on a scale of 1–4 in their submission.
• Experience across all areas of sterile processing, including decontamination, instrument assembly, sterilization, high-level disinfection, scope processing, sterile storage, and OR liaison work.
• Experience in a facility similar to OSU, a very busy Level One trauma facility.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate items including drills, Da Vinci equipment, and scopes.
• Assemble instruments across all service lines, including trauma instruments, loaners, and peel-packaged items.
• Perform sterilization processes using Sterrad and steam.
• Perform high-level disinfection and scope processing.
• Maintain sterile storage.
• Serve as a liaison to the operating room.
• Use the CensiTrac tracking system.
