About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive support to the Office of Strategic Advancement and the Office of the Secretary, ensuring effective, efficient, and economical operations across the State of North Carolina. The Executive Assistant works closely with management on special and critical projects assigned by the Director and Deputy Directors. This role is responsible for coordinating activities directed by the Director, Deputy Directors, and Supervisor, and supporting leadership to ensure the department remains responsive to the directives of the Secretary and the Governor, as well as the needs of the public. The individual in this position must be able to work independently and exercise strong judgment and initiative.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution; or Associate's degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to support senior leadership and their executives, boards, and collaborative partners, including scheduling meetings, sending updates, tracking attendance, preparing meeting minutes, and arranging travel and reimbursements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of purchasing processes and the demonstrated ability to perform purchasing and reconciliation duties.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, review, and edit written materials for proper content, format, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.
  • Demonstrated ability to summarize, compile, and tabulate data, including running data queries and generating reports using Excel, Access, or other software tools.
