About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist for its Tennessee, US Industrial Hygiene (IH) team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced IH expert with extensive knowledge of chemical exposure assessments, noise surveys, asbestos, lead-paint, hazardous materials, IAQ/mold consulting, and compliance tasks. Duties include conducting field work, preparing project reports, reviewing documentation with stakeholders, budget tracking, providing technical leadership and mentorship, and supporting Arcadis staff. State of Tennessee asbestos licensing is required, with job-specific training available. This role offers collaboration on diverse projects, opportunities for professional growth, and requires occasional overnight travel and a valid driver’s license. You will be responsible for creating detailed project proposals, reports, and deliverables. You will coordinate and review project documentation with internal consultants, clients, contractors, and other team members. You will be expected to complete the Arcadis Certified Project Management (CPM) training and then serve as a CPM on Arcadis projects.  As a member of the IH CoP, you will collaborate with junior staff, senior technical experts, and project managers in multidisciplinary environmental teams. Primary duties include the following.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science
  • 12+ years in consulting or professional services preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state regulations related to asbestos and mold
  • Strong problem-solving and project management abilities
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Proven leadership, ability to prioritize, delegate, make decisions quickly, and focus on quality

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred
  • RCRA/DOT Hazardous Waste Shipping Training preferred

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with agencies, management, staff, clients, and subcontractors to define scope and schedule for projects.
  • Conduct high-level technical surveys and oversight of subcontractors.
  • Document field activities accurately using provided tools.
  • Review and evaluate field findings.
  • Interpret laboratory data and reports.
  • Prepare technical memorandums, summary reports, and other client deliverables.
  • Perform senior technical peer-reviews on reports.
  • Provide expertise and effective mentoring to staff.
  • Manage project budgets, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Prepare proposal documents.
