About The Position

This position is offered through the Educational Services of Central Ohio. The Reynoldsburg City Schools’ School Social Worker - ESC is responsible for assisting students with academic learning by providing strategic services that identify and address the social, emotional, behavioral, and environmental issues that interfere with the educational process. This role serves as a vital bridge between the school, home, and community to promote positive school adjustment, mental health, and student wellness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (BSW) or Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited college or university.
  • Valid Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) issued by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board.
  • Valid Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) Pupil Services Registration (for BSW/MSW holders) OR 5-Year Professional Pupil Services License in School Social Work (for MSW holders).
  • Successful completion of required BCI and FBI background checks.
  • Knowledge of Ohio School Law, IDEA, and Section 504 regulations.
  • Knowledge of Social-emotional learning (SEL) frameworks and trauma-informed care.
  • Knowledge of Community resources and social service systems within Central Ohio.
  • Skilled in Clinical counseling techniques for individuals and groups.
  • Skilled in Conflict resolution, crisis de-escalation, and mediation.
  • Skilled in Data collection and analysis for behavioral intervention.
  • Ability to Build rapport with diverse student populations and families.
  • Ability to Work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited university with a 5-Year Professional Pupil Services License in School Social Work.
  • Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervision designation (LISW-S).
  • Previous experience providing pupil services or behavioral health support in a K-12 public school setting.
  • Proficiency in conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).

Responsibilities

  • Completes psychosocial assessments, risk assessments, and functional behavior assessments to assist in determining special education eligibility and student needs.
  • Determines and implements appropriate therapeutic strategies to effect changes in behavioral and social interactions of students and their families.
  • Provides individual and group therapeutic counseling to students and families to address social-emotional barriers to learning.
  • Conducts classroom observations, psycho-educational social skills groups, and classroom presentations on identified areas of concern for the student population.
  • Serves as a liaison between families and the school to promote collaborative educational planning and encourage parent/guardian participation.
  • Conducts home visits to establish communication and positive connections between the parent/guardian and the school setting.
  • Locates and mobilizes community resources to support the educational program and provides social work case management for students and families.
  • Serves as a liaison with community agencies to foster communication between schools, parents, and community leaders.
  • Collaborates with school staff to implement strategies that promote student learning and social-emotional growth.
  • Identifies and assesses academic problems through the analysis of factors in the home, school, and community.
  • Maintains required clinical records and adheres to program standards and confidentiality requirements (FERPA/HIPAA).
  • Participates as an active member of IEP, RTI, and 504 teams to develop interventions for promoting academic success.
  • Provides staff consultation and conducts staff development on social-emotional-environmental factors that impact the learning process.
  • Provides parent/guardian educational workshops on topics such as child development, stress reduction, discipline, and safety.
  • Provides crisis intervention services and serves on school-based and system-wide safety and program development committees.
