About The Position

The Sr Inflight Systems & Safety Specialist is a subject matter expert in Inflight systems, safety management, and regulatory compliance at Horizon Air (QX). As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to make decisions to reinforce compliance regarding safety initiatives, systems administration, and compliance oversight and provides recommendations to address operational risks, regulatory challenges, and procedural improvements within Inflight operations.

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience in a role focused on inflight systems administration, safety management systems (SMS), regulatory compliance, or related inflight operations that ensured regulatory compliance (or combination thereof).
  • Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal guidance, manage multiple complex projects, and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present data-driven insights, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to complete Horizon Air’s initial training/IOE, hold an FAA flight attendant certificate, fly as a working crewmember as needed, and remain qualified through recurrent training.
  • Operational flexibility, including the ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and fly as a working crew member as needed.
  • Possess a current passport with unlimited access into and out of the United States, or obtain a current passport prior to the first day of class.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum age of 21 and willing to serve alcohol.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and enter/exit the US & Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with event investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Functional knowledge of inflight policy and procedure.
  • Knowledge of FAA regulatory oversight processes.
  • Experience administering or managing Inflight systems (e.g., Comply365, LMS, or similar platforms).
  • Knowledge of SMS processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze operational data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert in Inflight systems, safety management, safety risk assessments and regulatory compliance to support operational excellence and ensure adherence to FAA and company standards.
  • With minimal direction from leadership, exercise considerable judgment to make decisions in cross-functional projects and safety programs to ensure alignment with operational goals and regulatory expectations.
  • Make recommendations to improve inflight policies and procedures by analyzing safety trends, operational data, and compliance findings.
  • Administer the execution of inflight audits and regulatory recordkeeping across systems such as CrewQual, AIMS, HIPPO, FLICA, and APIS to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Guide and influence others by leading safety working groups and participating in hiring processes to promote a culture of safety and operational integrity.
  • Apply deep knowledge in Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Inflight systems (ex., Comply365) to administer reporting platforms, manage workflows, and ensure accurate data collection and documentation.
  • Represent the Inflight team during Company review meetings (ex., Event Review Committee) and by leading the DAG and SRB meetings.
  • Influence cross-functionally and build relationships with senior leaders and external vendors to support the implementation of new inflight systems and safety initiatives.
  • Participate in the Duty Officer program and fly as a working crew member as needed to maintain operational readiness.
