About The Position

Fairview is seeking an upbeat and energetic Registered Nurse for their Emergency Department at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN. The hospital is a Level 3 Trauma Center with 45 beds and a yearly census of approximately 67,000 patients. The ED team includes Board Certified Emergency Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, Registered Nurses, ER Techs, Health Unit Coordinators, transport, and Case Managers. Emergency Department Registered Nurses provide emergency nursing care for a diverse patient population of all ages (infant to geriatrics) and problem types. The ER processes 67,000 cases per year, averaging 184 patients daily. The position involves assessment, care planning, interventions, and instructing. New positions have been added due to increased patient volumes and growth. Twenty percent of the ED volume is pediatric. This position is 48 hours per pay period, 12-hour day/evening shifts with every third weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient populations, adhering to policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines, and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with the health care team and delegates responsibilities as appropriate.

Requirements

  • MN RN Licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers
  • Completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for Healthcare Providers required by the end of orientation.
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within 1 year of hire
  • 1 year of RN Emergency Department, pediatric/adult critical care, or telemetry nursing

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher
  • Certification by the board of Certification for Emergency Nursing as a CEN, and/or course in advanced trauma nursing (ATCN)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) through Health Care Providers
  • ED Charge Nurse experience

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
  • Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
  • Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
  • Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
  • Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)
