Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • Minimum one year of healthcare experience (RN/LPN, EMT, or Medical Assistant) or minimum one year of documented satisfactory performance in the previous level within the job family or equivalent experience required.
  • Ability to work on a team.
  • Customer service skills including effective verbal communication and public relations required.
  • Applicable local licensure if required by state directives.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Qualify donors and perform all blood collection procedures.
  • Lead day-of-drive teams and perform charge tasks when assigned.
  • Responsible for identifying and addressing site-specific issues (including site maintenance, utility issues, and safety concerns).
  • Provide support, development, and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.
  • Perform any or all blood collection procedures, including allogeneic, autologous, directed, therapeutic, automated red cell, and mini-mobile and platelet apheresis.
  • Ensure the team successfully performs collections that meet patient needs, such as maintaining split rate and right-type mix.
  • Perform standard collection tasks such as, drive set up/function checks, donor reaction care, collection set labeling, discontinuing (disengagement), post-collection donor care, and post-collection blood processing.
  • Lead day-of-drive teams and perform charge tasks when assigned.
  • May perform competency assessments as necessary or directed.
