About The Position

The Research Senior Technician in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry provides advanced research support by conducting standard laboratory and field research activities and supporting broader research projects. This role collects and processes samples, conducts basic experiments, assists with the design and implementation of research projects, and performs preliminary statistical analysis. The Research Senior Technician works with a high level of autonomy on routine work, applies established procedures and precedents to resolve issues, helps maintain laboratory instrumentation, and may provide guidance or training to less experienced colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a preferred major in Chemistry or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant experience as demonstrated by one of the following: No prior experience required with a Bachelor’s degree, Two (2) years of relevant experience with an Associate’s degree, or Four (4) years of relevant experience with a High School diploma.
  • Hands on experience with Raman spectroscopic instrumentation.
  • Broad knowledge of standard research processes, tools, and methodologies, typically gained through on-the-job experience, training, certification, or a degree.
  • Ability to independently complete routine research tasks.
  • Ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve routine research-related issues using established procedures and precedent, with guidance from a supervisor when needed.
  • Ability to evaluate and select appropriate solutions for less frequent or unusual issues; escalates complex matters as appropriate.
  • Ability to assist with basic data analysis, research documentation, and preparation of reports or manuscripts.
