About The Position

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall management and successful delivery of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout. This position requires a strong understanding of construction management principles, project financials, contract administration, scheduling, procurement, quality control, safety, and client relationships. The Project Manager will work closely with field leadership, BIM/Design, Safety, estimating, subcontractors, owners, architects, and other project stakeholders to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements and NGi standards. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, organized problem solver, and forward-thinking leader who can take ownership of projects, remove obstacles, and effectively manage multiple priorities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in commercial construction.
  • Experience managing commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Experience with project financial management, scheduling, contract administration, change orders, and subcontractor management.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction principles, techniques, and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong understanding of construction schedules, budgets, project costs, and financial reporting.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Ability to establish processes and solutions where no precedent or guidelines exist.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.

  • Must demonstrate strong technical computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other job-specific construction software.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent construction experience will be considered.
  • Experience in drywall, framing, ceilings, or interior systems is preferred.
  • Experience with construction management platforms such as Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, Plexxis, or similar systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support field operations by ensuring the project team has the tools, materials, equipment, manpower, and information needed to successfully build the project.
  • Review contract documents and ensure project and team compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Manage the financial aspects of assigned projects and accurately project final costs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review job costs weekly and identify potential cost issues or opportunities.
  • Prepare monthly billings and manage project cash flow.
  • Develop front-loaded schedules of values prior to project activities being charged.
  • Review, price, negotiate, and manage change orders and other project cost impacts.
  • Assist with negotiating cost-effective subcontract agreements and material purchases.
  • Monitor material orders, including purchasing, tracking, delivery, and stocking.
  • Coordinate with NGi field and BIM/Design teams to deliver required project design and documentation.
  • Establish and maintain project procedures, document controls, and workflows.
  • Prepare and manage project submittals and related documentation.
  • Create and manage quality control reports using information gathered from the field.
  • Coordinate required front-end documents with the Safety Manager, including AHA, IIPP, safety manuals, and QA/QC programs.
  • Ensure significant project events are properly documented, including accidents, delays, changes, and other potential claims or impacts.
  • Coordinate project mobilization, including trailers, utilities, and other startup requirements.
  • Verify or retake-off estimates to establish working project budgets based on value engineering, construction methods, and project-specific quantities.
  • Coordinate project kickoff and job start meetings.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor project construction schedules, including manpower schedules.
  • Walk assigned projects weekly with field leaders to review progress, production, safety, manpower, and potential obstacles.
  • Facilitate regular project meetings with management, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Work proactively to identify, avoid, and mitigate claims, disputes, and conflicts.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with owners, architects, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Manage, train, coach, and mentor project team members, including Project Engineers.
  • Complete project closeout procedures and ensure required documentation is submitted timely.
  • Coordinate warranty follow-up and resolution of outstanding warranty items.
  • Participate in preconstruction services and activities as required.
  • Attend seminars, educational programs, and training as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Train, coach, motivate, and develop team members.
  • Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable.
  • Mentor and cross-train employees to support individual and organizational growth.
  • Promote collaboration and communication across departments.
  • Work with company leaders to assess project and workforce needs.
  • Address and resolve conflicts professionally.
