About The Position

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. FirstEnergy is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join their Strategy organization. This entry-level role supports enterprise-wide financial planning, forecasting, analysis, and reporting activities for consolidated FirstEnergy. The analyst will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to coordinate financial results, support strategic decision-making, and track performance against financial goals. This position is ideal for candidates eager to develop strong financial analysis skills, gain exposure to enterprise-level strategy, and contribute to a collaborative, results-driven team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline
  • Foundational knowledge of financial statement analysis
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to FirstEnergy values and behaviors

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with financial planning or business intelligence tools (e.g., UI Planner, QlikView, Power BI)
  • Exposure to SAP or similar systems

Responsibilities

  • Assist in financial forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and ad-hoc financial analysis
  • Support the development and maintenance of forecast models and management reports to inform strategic business decisions
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret financial and operational data from multiple sources, presenting findings in a clear, concise, and professional manner
  • Coordinate periodic actual results and forecast reporting, including preparation of financial management schedules
  • Develop an understanding of FirstEnergy’s financial performance, strategic objectives, and operating environment
  • Support target setting, peer benchmarking, tracking, and analysis of key financial performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Deliver timely and accurate analysis and reporting, providing excellent internal customer service
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, analysis, or work processes and contribute ideas for increased efficiency
  • Build effective working relationships with team members and business partners at multiple levels of the organization
  • Demonstrate curiosity and a questioning mindset while maintaining alignment with team goals and overall business success
