About The Position

This is a temporary assignment supporting a road cycling relay ride from Oregon to New Jersey. The role involves providing medical escort and care for cyclists during the race. All travel and boarding accommodations are paid for. Specific assignment sections are available with defined start and end dates, including travel days. The job entails providing ALS and BLS care to cyclists, responding to emergencies, and supporting event staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or a GED.
  • Must have and maintain a current state driver's license.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess and maintain current state EMT or Paramedic certification.
  • Must possess and maintain NREMT-P.
  • Must possess and maintain CPR certification.
  • FEMA ICS training 100 and 700 is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties associated with providing ALS and BLS care to the sick and injured.
  • Perform all duties autonomously and in austere environments, potentially as the sole medical provider at aid stations.
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency requests calmly, efficiently, and promptly.
  • Administer basic life support to patients in a pre-hospital/pre-transport setting.
  • Assess the nature and extent of injury or illness to establish and prioritize medical procedures.
  • Maintain order at scenes, including crowd disbursement and restraint.
  • Complete patient care forms, insurance forms, evaluation forms, and all other forms competently and in a timely fashion.
  • Conduct pre-event medical equipment inventory.
  • Clean, organize, and restock supplies in a ready condition after each use.
  • Respond to requests for emergency and non-emergency medical care at events and assist event staff with general tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of requests for emergent and non-emergent first aid and medical care.
  • Document each customer/patient interaction on the approved Patient Care Report.
  • Handle radio communications professionally and efficiently, respecting confidentiality.
  • Work cooperatively with assisting agencies, including Event Staff, Volunteers, security teams, EMS Transport agencies, event participants, and spectators.
  • Protect the privacy of all patient information.
  • Be a team player, providing necessary assistance to ensure work area sanitation, readiness, and adherence to quality assurance standards.
  • Be flexible, as work shift schedules may vary.
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of applicable current standards of care, including equipment functions and uses.
  • Assure that all certifications, licenses, and registrations are up-to-date.
  • Conduct oneself in a courteous, helpful, dignified, and professional manner at all times.
