About The Position

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• One year of external nursing experience, or completion of the Nurse Residency Program (NRP) for new nurses with less than six months of experience.
• Current, active Virginia registered nurse license or current multistate licensure privilege as a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Practice under the tenets of Centra's Professional Practice Model.
• Plan, coordinate, manage, and document care provided to assigned patients.
• Delegate to care providers according to the ANA Principles of Nurse Staffing.
• Use critical thinking for appropriate clinical decision-making and prioritization.
• Lead, communicate, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to plan patient care.
• Create and maintain an environment that protects patients from harm.
• Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG).
• Participate in initiatives resulting from nurse-sensitive quality indicators and/or unit-based quality metrics.
• Ensure appropriate patient and/or caregiver education using applicable resources.
• Promote and sustain a culture reflective of Centra's best practices.
• Operationalize change resulting from evidence-based practice or research.
• Operationalize unit-based action plans to achieve or exceed service excellence benchmarks.
• Participate in service recovery and use appropriate resources during complex situations.
• Handle conflict resolution appropriately, consistently, and in a timely manner.
• Identify personal contributions to unit-based cascading goals.
• Admit, transfer, and/or discharge patients safely and efficiently.
• Use resources such as time, people, and supplies cost effectively.
• Engage in professional development through self-assessment and attainment of degrees, certifications, and continuing education.
• Contribute to a supportive environment conducive to learning for students from all academic programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
