About The Position

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Nurse Anesthesia Practitioner studies.
• Current Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist certification from the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, and pharmacology as related to anesthesia.
• Demonstrated clinical competence within the department’s clinical practice standards.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-based care setting, both independently and as part of a care team.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
• Skill in taking medical histories and interpreting findings.
• Ability to maintain quality-control standards, react effectively in emergencies, and interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a CRNA, including consideration of new graduates with 0–1 year of experience.
• Massachusetts Registered Nurse license.
• Foreign-language skills suited to the patient population.

Responsibilities

• Review patients’ medical histories and assess their medical conditions.
• Administer and manage anesthesia services for patients.
• Monitor patients during procedures and throughout the perioperative period.
• Maintain and provide documentation of continued CRNA registration.
• Provide anesthesia care across a broad range of cases and practice settings.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists and other clinicians, including providers, nurses, and surgeons, in a care-team model.
• Perform procedures including IV, arterial-line, and central-line placement; spinal and epidural anesthesia; fiberoptic intubations; and occasional regional blocks.
• Maintain clinical competence, quality-control standards, and current knowledge of anesthesia best practices.
• Respond calmly and effectively to emergency situations.
