About The Position

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Medical Assistant certification with a current CMA registration number.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current CPR certification.
• Willingness and initiative to train as an MRI Technician through company-provided training.
• Following company-provided training, maintain registration as an MRI Technologist through A.R.R.T. or ARMRIT, or demonstrate equivalent academic education, professional training and development, and applied work experience.
• Experience working in an outpatient practice.
• Ability to use EMR systems and perform chart abstraction into an EMR.
• Ability to assist patients with medications and procedure authorizations and explain processes to patients.
• Critical-thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
• Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and adapt to technological advancements.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication, written communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multitask, work flexibly when assignments change at short notice, and increase work hours as needed to cover practice needs.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
• Diligence in completing assigned tasks accurately and on time, and willingness to accept constructive coaching and guidance.
• PC proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other accounting applications or software.
• Legal eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Ability to pass an in-depth background investigation, including a clean DMV report, and a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

• Good knowledge of human anatomy and computer software.
• Experience with CT and MRI scans, including reviewing scans and following instructions.
• Background in human biology and ability to identify anatomy from CT or other scans.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients by phone and in person and escort them to exam rooms.
• Take vital signs and perform ancillary tests as directed and within the employee’s skill level.
• Assist providers during examinations, treatments, and procedures, including setting up for providers.
• Maintain accurate patient files and confirm or update patient contact information at every contact.
• Apply dressings, bandages, and splints as ordered by a provider.
• Keep exam rooms stocked and maintain a sanitized and safe working environment according to established standards and guidelines.
• Maintain HIPAA requirements at all times.
• Coordinate services between multiple practices and communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
• Schedule appointments and document appointment status, including rescheduled, cancelled, confirmed, and voicemail statuses.
• Communicate clearly by phone, accurately document and assign messages, and make follow-up calls for messages left on the office answering machine.
• Assist with front-office responsibilities and other Medical Assistant duties as needed.
• Train to operate MRI equipment independently after certification and produce cross-sectional images for diagnostic purposes.
• Review CT and MRI scans, identify and draw anatomical structures using software, and create 3D models.
• Use judgment and initiative to perform technical functions that support diagnostic quality and safe, efficient patient care.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and adapt to changing technology and work assignments.
• Use EMR systems, perform chart abstraction, and use Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned to meet business needs.
