About The Position

Requirements

• Medical Laboratory Technician: High school diploma and at least 60 semester hours, including 6 hours in chemistry, 6 hours in biology, and 12 hours in laboratory science; alternatively, completion of an approved military laboratory training program.
• Medical Laboratory Scientist: Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science and at least 48 semester hours of science coursework: 12 semester hours of chemistry, including general, organic, or biochemistry; 12 semester hours of biology, including general, molecular, cell, or genetics; and 24 semester hours in any combination of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory science or technology.
• Medical Laboratory Technician: Certification required within 18 months of hire. Acceptable certifications include Medical Laboratory Technician certification from AMT, ASCP, or another recognized agency consistent with CLIA requirements.
• Medical Laboratory Scientist: Certification required within 18 months of hire. Acceptable certifications include Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist or Specialist certification from AMT, ASCP, or another recognized agency consistent with CLIA requirements.
• Maintain certification in active status for the duration of employment and complete continuing education as required by the certifying body.
• Medical Laboratory Technician: At least six months of clinical laboratory experience across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and blood bank. Experience may come from accredited clinical training and must align with the CLIA-defined scope of practice, including moderate-complexity testing and supervised participation in high-complexity testing.
• Medical Laboratory Scientist: At least one year of clinical laboratory experience, including rotations in blood bank, microbiology, chemistry, and hematology. Experience may come from accredited clinical rotations or professional work experience.
• The posting's summary lists a minimum of two years of relevant experience; the detailed role-specific requirements list six months for Medical Laboratory Technicians and one year for Medical Laboratory Scientists.
• Able to work the stated night shift schedule and provide holiday coverage; the laboratory also requires flexibility for day, evening, or night shifts and weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Process specimens, perform laboratory testing, and report test results in compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Support laboratory services in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, blood bank, microbiology, and clinical microscopy.
• Provide required holiday coverage.
